Ashley Skifton sent this recipe for her mom's sugar cookies

Peggy Sue's Sugar Cookies
1 1/2 cup butter
1 1/2 cup white sugar
3 eggs
1/3 cup milk (plus 2T if the dough is too dry)
1 tsp vanilla
1/2 tsp lemon extract (or any citrus flavor would do)
1 tsp salt
3 Tbsp Baking powder
6 cups flour

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
Cream together butter and sugar.
Mix in eggs, milk and extracts.
Mix in the salt, baking powder and half the flour.
Slowly add the rest of the flour a 1/2 cup at a time until the dough is no longer sticky.
If the dough feels too crumbly and dry, then slowly add 2 Tablespoons of milk.
Flour your countertop and roll the dough out about 1/2 inch. I like them thick!
Cut into desired shapes and carefully place on the baking sheet about 1/2 inch apart.
Bake for about 8 minutes depending on the size of your cookie.
The edges should just barely be golden.
They are very soft, even after they are cooled, so handle and decorate carefully!
Perfect for chocolate or cream cheese frosting and sprinkles on any holiday!
